Description :

This 8-day Morocco desert tour from Tangier takes you on an unforgettable journey across the country’s diverse landscapes and cultures. Starting in Tangier, you will pass through the Rif mountains to the blue town of Chefchaouen, explore the imperial city of Fes with its medina, mosques, and ancient universities, and discover the Roman ruins of Volubilis.

Venture into the Middle Atlas mountains through cedar forests, meet Barbary apes in Azrou, and enjoy the peaceful scenery of Midelt before heading south to the Sahara desert. In Merzouga, ride camels into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, enjoy a magical sunset, and spend the night in a traditional desert camp under the starry sky.

The adventure continues with visits to Todra and Dades Gorges, famous for their dramatic landscapes, and then to Ouarzazate and the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Finally, cross the High Atlas mountains to reach Marrakech, where you will explore its historic monuments, vibrant souks, and iconic gardens.

Day 1: Tangier – Tetouan – Rif Mountains – Chefchaouen

Departure from Tangier through the Rif Mountains with panoramic views of Tetouan. Arrive in Chefchaouen, the stunning blue pearl of Morocco, nestled in the Rif mountains. Explore the charming medina with its Andalusian architecture, lively square, and handicraft shops. Overnight in a local riad.

Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast, travel towards Volubilis to explore Morocco’s most famous Roman ruins. Continue to Meknes, the 17th-century imperial city, visiting Bab El-Mansour gate, Sahrij Swani, and Moulay Ismail’s mausoleum. In the afternoon, drive to Fes for overnight stay in a traditional riad.

Day 3: Full Day Fes Guided Tour

Guided walking tour of Fes – the cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco. Visit the Royal Palace, Jewish quarter, Bou Inania Madrasa, famous tanneries, and the world’s oldest university Al Quaraouine. Enjoy panoramic views of the medina before relaxing in your riad.

Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert (Camel Trek)

Drive through the Middle Atlas mountains, stopping at Ifrane (the “Switzerland of Morocco”) and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to Barbary apes. Lunch in Midelt, then continue via the Ziz Valley palm groves to Erfoud. Arrive in Merzouga for a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch the sunset and spend the night in a desert camp with Berber dinner and music under the stars.

Day 5: Merzouga Desert Tour (4×4 & Nomad Experience)

Explore the Sahara by 4×4. Visit Khamlia village to enjoy Gnawa music, meet nomadic families in the desert, and discover fossil areas near Erfoud. Lunch with locals or picnic in the desert. In the afternoon, enjoy another camel ride or relax at camp. Dinner and overnight in desert camp.

Day 6: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake up early for a magical sunrise over the dunes. Ride camels back to Merzouga village. After breakfast, depart to Todra Gorges, famous for its 300m cliffs. Walk through the gorge and enjoy local lunch. Continue through Tinghir palm groves to Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight in hotel/riad.

Day 7: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Drive along the Rose Valley and stop in Kalaat Mgouna, famous for rose products. Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco”. Visit Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah (UNESCO World Heritage Site), then cross the High Atlas mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m). Arrive in Marrakech for overnight stay in a riad/hotel.

Day 8: Marrakech Guided City Tour

After breakfast, explore Marrakech with a professional guide. Visit the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Majorelle Gardens, and the vibrant souks of the medina. End the tour at the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square with its street performers, food stalls, and lively atmosphere.
