Day 1: Marrakech – Telouet – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate

Pick-up from your hotel/riad in Marrakech to begin your desert journey. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m), stopping at panoramic viewpoints. Visit the Telouet Kasbah, once the residence of Pasha Glaoui. Continue along the Ounila Valley with its Berber villages before arriving at the UNESCO site of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. In the afternoon, drive to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Dinner and overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Agdz – Draa Valley – Zagora

After breakfast, visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and enjoy a panoramic view of Ouarzazate Lake. Continue through the Tinififft Pass to Agdz, then follow the Draa Valley lined with thousands of palm trees. Visit the Kasbah of Tamnougalt before reaching Zagora. Dinner and overnight in Zagora.

Day 3: Zagora – Tafrawt – Merzouga

Depart Zagora towards Merzouga, crossing plains, rivers, and rocky desert landscapes where nomadic families can often be seen. Arrive in the Sahara desert at Merzouga, gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Dinner and overnight in a desert hotel/riad near the dunes.

Day 4: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Desert Exploration

Today is dedicated to exploring Merzouga and its surroundings. Visit nomadic families in their tents, discover desert oases, and explore the village of Khamlia, home to Gnawa musicians originally from Mali. After lunch with a local family, prepare for a camel trek into the dunes. Enjoy sunset over Erg Chebbi before spending the night in a desert camp under a sky full of stars. Traditional Berber dinner included.

Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. Camel trek back to Merzouga, breakfast and shower, then depart for Rissani (famous for its traditional market) and Erfoud (known for fossils). Continue through palm groves and stop at the impressive Todra Gorges, a paradise for rock climbers. After lunch and a short walk in the gorge, drive to the Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight in Dades Gorges.

Day 6: Dades Gorges – Boutghrar – Skoura – Marrakech

After breakfast, travel through the valley of Boutghrar and visit cave-dwelling nomads for tea and cultural exchange. Continue to Skoura and its palm grove before returning to Ouarzazate. Cross the High Atlas Mountains again via Tizi n’Tichka and arrive in Marrakech in the evening. Drop-off at your hotel/riad.
