A 16-Day Private Morocco Tour Built Around Your Celebration
This grand Morocco cultural journey combines broad variety, from the Rif Mountains to the Sahara and the Atlantic, with longer stays in Chefchaouen, Fes and Marrakech, and it includes several substantial road days.
It is a private, tailor-made celebration journey for friends, sisters, extended families and reunion groups, and it sits naturally among our private escapes for women traveling together while welcoming mixed groups. You travel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking driver, explore Fes and Marrakech with licensed city guides, and celebrate at a personalized dinner planned with you in advance.
Moroccan Desert Trips is a local family business led by Hakim and Aziz, family members from Merzouga with more than 15 years each in tourism. Because the desert is home, we plan your Sahara days with local knowledge, from timing the dunes for sunset to choosing between a hotel and a camp night. Grand Morocco Friends' Celebration, Day by Day
Each day separates time in the vehicle from sightseeing, walking and free time, with driving estimates and included, optional and suggested activities clearly labeled.
Arrive in Casablanca — Welcome to Your Shared Adventure
Day 1 begins with a private airport transfer to your Casablanca hotel and time to settle in after the journey.
Your driver meets the group at Casablanca Airport and takes you to your hotel. If everyone arrives early enough, enjoy a stroll along the Atlantic corniche or a first dinner together. A Hassan II Mosque visit is possible only if current visitor arrangements and your arrival time allow.
Key experiences
- Private airport transfer (included)
- Corniche stroll or welcome meal (suggestion, time permitting)
- Hassan II Mosque visit (optional, subject to visitor arrangements)
Pace: Arrival day; nothing essential is scheduled.
Casablanca → Chefchaouen — Into Northern Morocco
Day 2 is a substantial transfer north into the Rif Mountains, with planned comfort and meal breaks.
Head north after breakfast through farmland and into the hills of the Rif. A brief stop in Rabat can be proposed if it fits the day, but it is a short stop, not a city tour. Arrive in Chefchaouen with time to settle in and enjoy the evening.
Key experiences
- Private air-conditioned transfer (included)
- Meal and rest stops
- Brief Rabat stop (optional, if feasible)
Pace: Roughly 4.5 to 5.5 hours of driving, plus breaks (estimate).
Chefchaouen — Blue Lanes & Time Together
Day 3 starts with an early walk through Chefchaouen's blue lanes and leaves the rest of the day for cafés, photographs and browsing.
Set out after breakfast while the town is waking up; streets are often quieter early, though never guaranteed empty. The medina is built on a slope with many steps, so we set the pace for the whole group. The afternoon is free for tea on a terrace, shopping for woven goods or a viewpoint walk at sunset for those who want it.
Key experiences
- Early medina walk
- Free time for cafés and shopping
- Sunset viewpoint walk (optional)
Pace: Gentle, but with slopes and steps throughout.
Chefchaouen → Fes — Arrive in the Imperial City
Day 4 is a moderate transfer to Fes with a relaxed arrival; stops at Volubilis or Meknes are possible only if the group wants a longer day.
Drive south through the Rif foothills, with breaks along the way, and check in to your riad in Fes. If the group would like to visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis or the city of Meknes, we can add them, but this adds several hours to the day and means arriving in Fes in the evening.
Key experiences
- Private transfer to Fes (included)
- Volubilis or Meknes (optional; makes the day considerably longer)
Pace: Roughly 3.5 to 4 hours of driving without extra stops (estimate).
Fes — Medina Heritage with a Licensed Guide
Day 5 is a thoughtfully paced walk through the Fes medina with a licensed guide, covering selected historic sites and traditional trades.
Follow your guide through the lanes of Fes el-Bali, visiting a selection of monuments and workshops, with breaks for mint tea and lunch. Entrance fees included in your quotation are listed; other visits are optional.
Key experiences
- Licensed Fes medina guide (included)
- Selected historic sites (included entrances as listed)
- Breaks for tea and lunch
Pace: A full morning on foot, on uneven lanes; relaxed afternoon.
Fes — Artisan Encounters & Personal Time
Day 6 combines confirmed artisan visits or a cooking experience with free time for the group.
Visit artisans at work, such as weavers, tile makers or leather workers, each confirmed in advance as a demonstration or a hands-on workshop. Alternatively, join a cooking experience. Shopping is always optional, and the afternoon is yours.
Key experiences
- Confirmed artisan visits (demonstration or hands-on, as agreed)
- Cooking experience (optional)
- Free afternoon
Pace: Half-day of activity; half-day free.
Fes → Middle Atlas → Ziz Valley → Merzouga
Day 7 is one of the journey's longest road days, crossing the Middle Atlas to the edge of the Sahara with planned breaks.
Leave Fes in the morning and travel south through cedar country and high plateaus. Where timing allows, stop briefly around Ifrane, in Midelt for lunch or above the palm-lined Ziz Valley. Arrive near Erg Chebbi in the evening and keep the night relaxed.
Key experiences
- Private transfer to Merzouga (included)
- Meal, comfort and scenic stops
Pace: A long day: roughly 7 to 8 hours of driving, plus breaks (estimate).
Merzouga — Desert Discovery & Erg Chebbi Sunset
Day 8 is a gently paced desert day ending with sunset over the dunes of Erg Chebbi, with the option of a night in a luxury camp.
Rest in the morning or, where it can be arranged, visit Khamlia to hear Gnawa music or share tea with local hosts, always as invited guests. In the late afternoon, head into the dunes by camel or by 4×4, according to preference and availability, to watch the sunset. A luxury camp night with a private bathroom can be proposed as an accommodation option; if chosen, your quotation specifies dinner, breakfast, bathroom facilities and any heating or air conditioning. Otherwise, you return to your hotel.
Key experiences
- Erg Chebbi sunset by camel or 4×4 (included as agreed)
- Khamlia or local hosts (where confirmed)
- Luxury camp night (optional; to be confirmed)
Pace: An easy day; the desert sets the pace.
Merzouga → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley
Day 9 heads west with a short walk in the Todra Gorge and arrival in the Dades Valley.
After breakfast, drive west to Tinghir and walk a short way into the Todra Gorge between its towering walls. Continue with breaks to the Dades Valley, arriving with time to rest.
Key experiences
- Todra Gorge stop and short walk
- Private transfer to Dades (included)
Pace: Roughly 5 hours of driving, plus stops (estimate). No strenuous hiking.
Dades Valley → Valley Landscapes → Skoura
Day 10 is a comparatively short travel stage with scenic stops and time to enjoy the palm oasis of Skoura.
Follow the valley road past kasbahs and rose fields, stopping where the views invite. In Skoura, a kasbah visit or guided palm-grove walk can be proposed, subject to arrangements, then the evening is yours.
Key experiences
- Scenic stops along the valley
- Kasbah visit or palm-grove walk (proposed, subject to arrangements)
- Free evening
Pace: Roughly 1.5 to 2 hours of driving (estimate); an easy day.
Skoura → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → High Atlas → Marrakech
Day 11 is a substantial travel day, with time at Ait Ben Haddou and breaks on the way over the High Atlas to Marrakech.
Pass Ouarzazate and spend time exploring the earthen ksar of Ait Ben Haddou. Then climb over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stopping at viewpoints, and descend to Marrakech by late afternoon or evening. Other stops are kept selective.
Key experiences
- Ait Ben Haddou visit (local guide or entrance as agreed)
- High Atlas viewpoints
- Private transfer to Marrakech (included)
Pace: Roughly 5 to 6 hours of driving, plus stops (estimate).
Marrakech — Cultural Discovery & Your Celebration Dinner
Day 12 pairs a licensed guided introduction to Marrakech with the highlight of the journey: your personalized celebration dinner in a riad.
Explore selected medina sights and craft quarters with a licensed guide in the morning, then return to the riad to rest and get ready. In the evening, gather for a celebration dinner in a suitable riad, arranged with you in advance. Menu preferences and dietary requests are discussed beforehand; extras such as a cake, flowers, music or a private dining space are separately confirmed options. The dinner does not imply exclusive use of the riad.
Key experiences
- Licensed Marrakech city guide (included)
- Personalized celebration dinner (included as specified)
- Cake, flowers, music or private dining (optional, confirmed separately)
Pace: Light morning, free afternoon, special evening.
Marrakech — Enjoy the City Your Way
Day 13 is a flexible day for shopping, gardens, a cooking class, a hammam or simply the riad.
After the celebration, nothing is scheduled. Some of the group may head to the souks while others visit a garden, book a hammam or take a cooking class; all of these are optional unless your quotation includes them.
Key experiences
- Shopping and gardens (suggestions)
- Cooking class or hammam (optional)
- Riad relaxation
Pace: Free day.
Marrakech → Essaouira — Toward the Atlantic
Day 14 is a transfer west to the coast with breaks and a relaxed arrival in Essaouira.
Drive across the plains toward the ocean, with a break on the way. An argan cooperative visit can be added if the group is interested, arranged transparently and with no obligation to buy. Arrive in Essaouira in time for a walk on the ramparts.
Key experiences
- Private transfer to Essaouira (included)
- Argan cooperative visit (optional)
- Relaxed evening
Pace: Roughly 2.5 to 3 hours of driving (estimate).
Essaouira — A Coastal Finale with Friends
Day 15 offers a gentle introduction to Essaouira's medina and harbor, then generous free time for a last shared day.
Walk the whitewashed lanes and the harbor, then spend the rest of the day on galleries, cafés, a beach walk or a long final meal together. Wind and sea conditions vary, so swimming is not always suitable, and optional activities are not included unless listed.
Key experiences
- Gentle medina and harbor introduction (as included)
- Free time for galleries, cafés and the beach
- Farewell meal (suggestion)
Pace: Easy, mostly free.
Departure — Farewell to Morocco
Day 16 ends with a private transfer to Essaouira Airport or by road to Marrakech Airport, timed to your flights.
Essaouira Airport is a short drive from town but has fewer flights. Marrakech Airport is roughly 3 hours by road (estimate), plus an airport buffer; very early flights may mean moving the final night to Marrakech. Returning to Casablanca is a much longer journey and is assessed and quoted separately.
Key experiences
- Private departure transfer (included, as agreed)
Pace: Timing depends on your flights.
Why Does This Journey Suit a Celebration?
Because it gives a group a series of shared highlights, a personalized celebration night and enough longer stays to relax together, all on a private itinerary that adapts to different interests.
Longer stays where they count
Two nights in Chefchaouen, three in Fes, two in Merzouga and three in Marrakech mean you unpack properly at the heart of the trip, then finish with two easy nights on the coast.
Shared moments, personal choices
Sunset on the dunes and the celebration dinner bring everyone together; free afternoons let some of the group shop while others rest or explore.
An honest word about the road
The circuit includes one-night stops in Casablanca, Dades and Skoura and several long transfer days. If your group prefers fewer moves or extra recovery days, ask for the extended version, which adds nights to break up the longest drives.

Accommodation and Group Arrangements
We propose boutique riads and comfortable hotels in the cities, valley and kasbah-style properties in Dades and Skoura, a hotel or optional luxury camp in Merzouga, and a coastal riad or hotel in Essaouira, all subject to availability.
Rooms, tents and supplements
Choose twin rooms, separate rooms or a mix; single supplements are shown in your quotation. If you choose the camp night, we agree tent allocation in advance.
Vehicles and luggage
We match the vehicle to your group size and luggage. Larger groups may travel in two vehicles or a minibus, confirmed in your quotation.
Access and facilities
Medina riads often involve walking from the vehicle, stairs and uneven lanes. Bathrooms, accessibility and facilities are confirmed property by property.
Exclusive riad use
For some groups, booking a whole riad for the Marrakech nights is possible, but only where availability, capacity and pricing have been confirmed.

Grand Morocco Friends' Celebration FAQs
The journey is fully private and adaptable, the celebration is planned with you, and anything that depends on availability is confirmed in your quotation.
Is this a private tour, and how big can our group be?
Yes, it is fully private, for your group only. Group size is flexible; larger groups may need more than one vehicle or a different transport arrangement, which we confirm in your quotation.
Is it suitable for a milestone birthday or reunion?
Yes, it was designed for exactly that. The celebration dinner, shared highlights and flexible free time make it easy to mark a birthday, anniversary or reunion together.
How does the celebration dinner work?
It is a personalized dinner in a suitable Marrakech riad, arranged with you in advance. Menu, dietary needs and extras such as a cake, flowers, music or a private dining space are confirmed separately; exclusive use of the riad is not implied.
Do we have to share rooms or tents?
No. Choose twin rooms, separate rooms or a mix, including tent allocation if you choose a camp night; single supplements are shown in your quotation.
Is a luxury desert camp included?
Not automatically. A luxury camp night with a private bathroom can be proposed for Day 8; if you choose it, your quotation confirms the camp, meals and facilities.
Do we have to ride camels?
No. You can reach the sunset dunes by 4×4 instead, according to preferences and availability.
How long are the travel days?
Several are long, notably Day 7 (roughly 7 to 8 hours) and Days 2, 9 and 11 (roughly 5 to 6 hours), plus breaks (estimates). We stop regularly, and an extended version can reduce the number of one-night stops.
Can you cater for dietary requests?
Usually, if we know in advance. Share vegetarian, vegan, allergy or other needs and we confirm them with each property, the camp and the celebration dinner.
Is there free time, and can we change the itinerary?
Yes to both. Days 13 and 15 are largely free, most afternoons are open, and every stop, activity and hotel can be changed.
Which airport do we fly home from?
Essaouira or Marrakech, depending on flights. Essaouira Airport is close but has fewer flights; Marrakech Airport is roughly 3 hours away (estimate). Returning to Casablanca is quoted separately.
