A Private 10-Day Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour for Women Traveling Together
This private Marrakech to Fes desert tour crosses the High Atlas, follows the kasbah road through Skoura and the Dades Valley, spends two nights at the Erg Chebbi dunes and finishes with two nights in Fes.
“Sisters’ Journey” is about connection, not family trees. It is designed for women traveling with their own sisters, friends, mothers, daughters or chosen companions, and nobody else joins your group. You travel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking driver, stay in boutique accommodation and follow an itinerary planned around you.
Moroccan Desert Trips is a local family business led by Hakim and Aziz, family members from Merzouga with more than 15 years each in tourism. Because the desert is home, we plan the Sahara part of your journey with local knowledge: which camps suit your group, how to time the dunes for sunset, and how to pace the long roads in and out. Read more about our family or about the Merzouga desert.
Your 10-Day Sahara Itinerary at a Glance
Three days in Marrakech, three days crossing the south to the dunes, a desert day with a camp night, one long road day north, and a full day in Fes.
Marrakech to Fes Sahara Sisters' Journey, Day by Day
Each day is marked clearly as a city day, a driving day or a desert day, with driving estimates, included arrangements and optional suggestions separated.
Arrive in Marrakech — A Warm Moroccan Welcome
Day 1 begins with a private airport transfer to your riad and a gentle first evening in Marrakech, shaped around your arrival time.
Your driver meets you at Marrakech Airport and takes you to your riad, where mint tea and a quiet courtyard wait. If you land early, take an easy first walk toward the Jemaa el-Fna square; if you land late, simply rest. A welcome dinner can be proposed, and your quotation confirms whether it is included.
Key experiences
- Private airport transfer (included)
- Welcome dinner (proposed; inclusion confirmed in your quotation)
Pace: Arrival day, nothing scheduled.
Discover Marrakech — Medina, Heritage & Artisan Encounters
Day 2 is a guided introduction to Marrakech with a licensed city guide, covering selected historic sights, medina lanes and artisan quarters.
Explore the medina with a licensed guide who explains its history and daily life, and visit workshops where crafts are still made by hand. The monuments you visit and their entrance fees depend on the program agreed with you. The afternoon is free for cafés, gardens or rest.
Key experiences
- Licensed Marrakech city guide (included)
- Selected historic sights (entrance fees as agreed in your quotation)
- Free afternoon (suggestion: a garden or rooftop café)
Pace: Half a day of guided walking with breaks.
Marrakech at Your Pace — Shared Experiences & Time to Unwind
Day 3 is a flexible day: choose one or two shared experiences, such as a cooking class or hammam, and keep the rest of the day for yourselves.
Some groups book a market visit and cooking class in the morning and a hammam in the afternoon; others shop, visit a garden or never leave the riad pool. These activities are optional unless your quotation includes them, and we suggest choosing no more than two so the day stays relaxed.
Key experiences
- Cooking class (optional)
- Hammam (optional)
- Gardens, shopping or riad time (suggestions)
Pace: Deliberately light, the calm before the road south.
Marrakech → High Atlas → Ait Ben Haddou → Skoura
Day 4 is a substantial travel day across the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka pass, with time to explore Ait Ben Haddou before continuing to Skoura.
Leave Marrakech after breakfast and climb into the mountains, stopping at viewpoints and for coffee along the way. In the afternoon, walk through the earthen ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, then continue past Ouarzazate to the palm oasis of Skoura for the night.
Key experiences
- Private air-conditioned transfer over the Tizi n'Tichka pass (included)
- Time to explore Ait Ben Haddou (local guide or entrance as agreed)
- Scenic stops in the High Atlas
Pace: Roughly 5 to 6 hours of driving, plus stops (estimate). Sightseeing is limited to Ait Ben Haddou.
Skoura → Palm Groves & Kasbahs → Dades Valley
Day 5 slows the pace among Skoura's palm groves and kasbahs before a short drive to the Dades Valley.
Spend the morning in the oasis. A visit to Kasbah Amridil and a guided walk through the palm groves can be proposed, subject to access and arrangements on the day. In the afternoon, follow the road of kasbahs to the Dades Valley and enjoy your accommodation and the valley views.
Key experiences
- Kasbah Amridil visit (proposed, subject to access)
- Guided palm-grove walk (proposed)
- Afternoon to enjoy the valley
Pace: Short drive, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours (estimate); an easy day.
Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Merzouga
Day 6 includes a short walk in the Todra Gorge, then the drive to Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Drive to Tinghir and walk into the Todra Gorge, where the canyon walls narrow above the river. Continue east with breaks for lunch and stretching, arriving near the dunes in the late afternoon. The evening is relaxed at your hotel or riad.
Key experiences
- Todra Gorge walk (included as a stop)
- Lunch stop (lunch not included unless specified)
- Relaxed evening near the dunes
Pace: Roughly 5 hours of driving in total, plus stops (estimate).
Merzouga — Desert Discovery & Luxury Camp Night
Day 7 is a thoughtfully paced desert day that ends with a sunset in the dunes and a night in a luxury camp with a private bathroom.
Spend the morning at your own pace. Where it can be arranged, visit Khamlia to hear Gnawa music, or share tea with a local host, always as invited guests rather than spectators. In the late afternoon, head into the dunes by camel or by 4×4, according to your preference and confirmed arrangements, and watch Erg Chebbi change color at sunset. Dinner and breakfast at the camp are specified in your quotation; heating and air conditioning are confirmed for your dates, not assumed.
Key experiences
- Sunset camel ride or vehicle transfer to camp (included as agreed)
- Luxury camp night with private bathroom (included)
- Khamlia music visit or hosted encounter (where confirmed)
Pace: Easy pace; the desert does the rest.
Merzouga → Ziz Valley → Middle Atlas → Fes
Day 8 is the journey's longest road day, crossing from the Sahara to Fes with planned breaks for meals, comfort and views.
After sunrise and breakfast at camp, return to the vehicle and head north. Where timing allows, stop above the palm-lined Ziz Valley, in Midelt for lunch, or briefly in Ifrane, but this is a travel day, not a sightseeing day. You arrive in Fes in the evening.
Key experiences
- Private transfer to Fes (included)
- Meal and comfort stops
- Ziz Valley, Midelt or Ifrane stops where timing permits
Pace: Roughly 7 to 8 hours of driving, plus breaks (estimate). Ask about the extended version if you prefer to split it.
Fes — Licensed Medina Walk & Artisan Heritage
Day 9 is a full day to discover Fes with a licensed guide, from medina lanes to the workshops of its artisans.
Walk through one of the largest historic medinas in the world with a licensed guide, visiting selected monuments and learning how crafts such as tanning, weaving and zellige tilework are made. Visits to learn about a craft are kept separate from shopping stops, and buying anything is entirely optional. The afternoon is shaped around your group's energy and interests.
Key experiences
- Licensed Fes medina guide (included)
- Educational visits to artisan workshops
- Free afternoon (suggestion: a riad hammam or rooftop tea)
Pace: Plenty of walking on uneven lanes, with breaks.
Depart Fes — Farewell & Airport Transfer
Day 10 ends with a private transfer to Fes Airport, timed to your flight.
Enjoy a last breakfast before your driver takes you to Fes–Saïss Airport. If you need to travel on to another city instead, such as Casablanca or Marrakech, we assess whether it is feasible for your flight and quote it separately.
Key experiences
- Private departure transfer to Fes Airport (included)
Pace: Timing depends on your flight.
Why Choose This Sahara Journey?
Because it gives every stage enough time: three nights to settle into Marrakech, two gentle stops on the way south, two nights at the dunes and a full guided day in Fes.
Three nights in Marrakech
You unpack once, recover from the flight, and see the city with a guide and on your own before heading into the mountains.
Skoura and Dades instead of a dash to the desert
Many desert tours drive from Marrakech to Merzouga in two long days. Separate nights in Skoura and the Dades Valley give you time in the palm groves and kasbahs rather than only seeing them through a window.
Two nights in Merzouga
A hotel night near the dunes followed by a luxury camp night combines comfort with the desert experience, and leaves a full day to enjoy Erg Chebbi.
Two nights in Fes
Arriving the evening before means your guided medina day starts fresh, not straight off the road.
Your companions, your arrangements
Travel privately with people you know, choose your room arrangements, and swap or skip activities as the group prefers.
An honest word about the road
This journey includes long road days, especially Day 4 and Day 8. If you would rather split the Merzouga to Fes drive, ask for the extended version with an extra night on the way, in the Middle Atlas for example.

Where Will We Stay, and Can We Personalize It?
We propose boutique riads in Marrakech and Fes, a guesthouse or kasbah-style property in Skoura, comfortable accommodation in the Dades Valley, a hotel near the dunes and a luxury camp, each confirmed subject to availability.
Proposed accommodation styles
- Marrakech and Fes: boutique riads in or near the medina. Not every riad has vehicle access or step-free rooms, so we confirm both if they matter to you.
- Skoura: a guesthouse or kasbah-style property among the palm groves.
- Dades Valley: a comfortable hotel or guesthouse with valley views.
- Merzouga: a hotel or riad near the dunes, then a luxury camp with a private bathroom in each tent.
Rooms and tents
Choose twin rooms, separate rooms or a mix, in the hotels and in the camp. Single supplements apply to separate rooms and appear in your quotation. Bathroom facilities and accessibility are confirmed for each property.
Making it yours
Tell us about dietary requests, how much walking suits the group, birthdays or anniversaries to celebrate, and whether anyone would prefer to reach the camp by 4×4 instead of by camel. We build each into the plan where it can be confirmed.
