A Private 14-Day Morocco Wellness and Slow Travel Holiday

This tailor-made Morocco wellness holiday has fewer hotel changes and only a handful of transfer days, so you spend most of your time settled in one place rather than on the road.

Here, wellness means rest, enjoyable movement, cultural discovery and the freedom to choose. It is a customized holiday with optional wellness activities, not a structured retreat program: there is no resident retreat leader, no daily yoga timetable and no therapeutic supervision, and we make no health promises. What you get is space, comfort and good arrangements.

It suits couples, friends, sisters and anyone who wants Morocco without the rush, and it sits naturally among our private escapes for women traveling together. You travel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking driver, and the trip is planned personally by Hakim and Aziz, family members from Merzouga who lead Moroccan Desert Trips and have each worked in tourism for more than 15 years.

Morocco Wellness & Slow Travel Retreat, Day by Day

Each day shows what is included, what is optional and what is simply a suggestion, with free time protected and transfer times estimated.

Day 1

Arrive in Marrakech — Settle into Your Riad

Day 1 is for arriving gently: a private airport transfer, a quiet welcome at your riad and time to unwind.

Your driver meets you at Marrakech Airport and takes you to your riad, a short drive away. Mint tea in the courtyard, a rest after the flight, perhaps a walk to a nearby rooftop for sunset if you arrive early enough. Nothing else is planned.

Key experiences

  • Private airport transfer (included)
  • Time to settle in

Pace: Arrival day; no activities scheduled.

Overnight: Marrakech

Day 2

Marrakech — Gentle Cultural Discovery

Day 2 offers a thoughtfully paced introduction to Marrakech with a licensed city guide, followed by a free afternoon.

Explore the medina with a licensed guide who adjusts the pace to you, visiting a few selected sights and craft quarters with breaks for tea. The afternoon is yours: return to the riad, find a garden or simply sit and watch the city go by. Specific visits and entrance fees are agreed in advance.

Key experiences

  • Licensed Marrakech city guide (included)
  • Selected cultural sights (entrance fees as agreed)
  • Free afternoon

Pace: A morning of easy walking; the rest of the day unscheduled.

Overnight: Marrakech

Day 3

Marrakech — Hammam Ritual & Time for Yourself

Day 3 is built around a pre-arranged hammam ritual, with the rest of the day left for the riad, cafés or optional treatments.

Experience a traditional hammam of steam, black soap and a thorough scrub, followed by time to rest. Treatment details and privacy arrangements are confirmed in advance. Add a massage or other spa treatment if you wish; these are optional extras unless listed in your quotation.

Key experiences

  • Hammam package (included; treatments specified in your quotation)
  • Optional spa treatments (extra)
  • Riad or café time

Pace: Restful; one appointment, the rest is free.

Overnight: Marrakech

Day 4

Marrakech → Atlas Mountains — A Change of Rhythm

Day 4 is a short, relaxed transfer to a mountain lodge, such as in Ouirgane or the Imlil area, and an afternoon to settle in.

Leave the city mid-morning and follow the road into the foothills of the High Atlas, stopping wherever the view invites you. We propose a lodge after checking access, accommodation and the comfort level you prefer. Spend the afternoon on the terrace, by the pool where there is one, or walking in the lodge grounds.

Key experiences

  • Private transfer to the Atlas (included)
  • Afternoon at the lodge

Pace: Short drive, roughly 1 to 1.5 hours (estimate).

Overnight: Atlas Mountains

Day 5

Atlas Mountains — Gentle Village Walk & Local Hospitality

Day 5 offers an optional gentle walk with a local mountain guide, adapted to your fitness and the trail conditions, and pre-arranged time with local hosts.

Walk between villages, orchards and terraced fields at an easy pace, learning about Amazigh (Berber) mountain life from your guide. Where it is arranged, share tea with a local family as invited guests. A shorter route or a lodge day is always possible. Duration and terrain are confirmed once the lodge is chosen.

Key experiences

  • Gentle guided walk with a local mountain guide (included; optional to join)
  • Pre-arranged visit with local hosts, where available
  • Shorter route or lodge-based alternative

Pace: Gentle; walk only as far as feels good.

Overnight: Atlas Mountains

Day 6

Atlas Mountains — An Unscheduled Mountain Day

Day 6 is deliberately unscheduled: a full day for rest, reading, the lodge and gentle movement of your choosing.

Sleep late, read on the terrace, take a short walk on your own or simply listen to the quiet. If you would like a yoga session, it can be arranged only where a qualified practitioner and a suitable space are confirmed in advance, at an extra cost unless included.

Key experiences

  • No scheduled activities
  • Optional yoga (only where a qualified practitioner and space are confirmed)

Pace: Completely free.

Overnight: Atlas Mountains

Day 7

Atlas Mountains → Essaouira — Toward the Atlantic

Day 7 is a transfer day from the mountains to the coast, with comfort and meal breaks and a relaxed arrival evening.

Descend from the mountains across the plains toward the Atlantic, stopping for coffee and lunch along the way. In Essaouira, settle into your accommodation and take an easy evening stroll along the ramparts as the sea breeze picks up.

Key experiences

  • Private transfer to Essaouira (included)
  • Meal and rest stops
  • Relaxed evening

Pace: Roughly 3.5 to 5 hours on the road depending on the mountain base, plus breaks (estimate).

Overnight: Essaouira

Day 8

Essaouira — Medina Discovery & Coastal Air

Day 8 starts with a gentle guided introduction to Essaouira's medina and harbor, then leaves the rest of the day free.

Walk the whitewashed lanes, woodworkers' workshops and ramparts, and watch the fishing boats at the harbor. Afterwards, the day is yours: a long lunch, a gallery or a walk along the beach. Wind and sea conditions vary, so swimming is not always suitable.

Key experiences

  • Gentle guided medina and harbor introduction (as included in your quotation)
  • Free afternoon
  • Beach walk (suggestion)

Pace: A short morning walk; the rest is free.

Overnight: Essaouira

Day 9

Essaouira — A Free Day by the Sea

Day 9 is largely unscheduled, so you can enjoy Essaouira at whatever pace feels right.

Suggestions, not commitments: coffee in a square, a browse through galleries and argan shops, a long beach walk, a leisurely fish lunch by the port. Or stay in and do nothing at all.

Key experiences

  • Free day (no activities included)
  • Suggestions: cafés, galleries, beach walk, seafood lunch

Pace: Entirely yours.

Overnight: Essaouira

Day 10

Essaouira — Personal Wellness & Slow Living

Day 10 is for personal wellness: book a spa appointment, a cooking experience or a yoga session, or choose to do very little.

Optional spa treatments, a Moroccan cooking experience and yoga, where a qualified practitioner is available, can all be arranged in advance at additional cost unless your quotation includes them. Doing nothing is equally welcome.

Key experiences

  • Optional spa appointment (extra, advance booking)
  • Optional cooking experience (extra)
  • Optional yoga (where available, extra)

Pace: As active or as quiet as you like.

Overnight: Essaouira

Day 11

Essaouira → Agafay — Camp Stay & Dinner Under the Sky

Day 11 is a road transfer from the coast to the Agafay desert near Marrakech, followed by an afternoon and evening at camp.

Drive inland from the coast, with a break along the way. Agafay is a rocky, arid landscape of bare hills about an hour from Marrakech, not the sand dunes of the Sahara, and its quiet, open views make a calm final change of scene. In the evening, a proposed outdoor dinner lets you enjoy the sky, subject to weather and camp conditions. Silence, starry skies and exclusive use of the camp cannot be guaranteed.

Key experiences

  • Private transfer to Agafay (included)
  • Camp stay (included)
  • Outdoor dinner, weather permitting (if included in the camp booking)

Pace: Roughly 2.5 to 3 hours on the road, plus a break (estimate).

Overnight: Agafay camp

Day 12

Agafay → Marrakech — Return at an Easy Pace

Day 12 begins with an unhurried breakfast at camp and a short transfer back to Marrakech, with the afternoon open.

Enjoy the morning light over the hills before returning to the city. Check in to your riad and spend the afternoon however you like: by the pool, in a café, or exploring a part of the medina you missed.

Key experiences

  • Private transfer to Marrakech (included)
  • Free afternoon

Pace: Short drive, roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour (estimate).

Overnight: Marrakech

Day 13

Marrakech — Your Final Day, Your Choice

Day 13 is a flexible last day for shopping, gardens, an optional treatment or a farewell dinner.

Choose what feels right for your last full day: a final browse in the souks, a visit to a garden, one more treatment, or a farewell dinner somewhere special. None of these is included unless it appears in your quotation.

Key experiences

  • Shopping or gardens (suggestions)
  • Optional treatment (extra)
  • Farewell dinner (optional unless included)

Pace: Free day.

Overnight: Marrakech

Day 14

Depart Marrakech — Private Airport Transfer

Day 14 ends with a private transfer to Marrakech Airport, timed to your flight with a comfortable buffer.

Enjoy a final breakfast before your driver takes you to the airport, allowing plenty of time before your flight.

Key experiences

  • Private departure transfer (included)

Pace: Timing depends on your flight.

No overnight included

What Makes This a Slow Travel Retreat?

Longer stays: three nights in the mountains, four on the coast and two final nights in Marrakech give you time to settle into each place instead of constantly packing.

Flexible mornings

Very few days start early. Scheduled services are set for mid-morning or later wherever possible.

Optional, not obligatory

The hammam, the guided introductions and the mountain walk are the backbone of the trip; everything else, from spa treatments to yoga and cooking, is optional.

Thoughtful guiding

Licensed guides in Marrakech and Essaouira and a local mountain guide in the Atlas lead short, well-paced experiences, then step back.

What is scheduled, and when you are on your own

Transfers, guided introductions, the hammam and the Agafay dinner are scheduled. The rest of the time, you explore independently. Staff are not on call around the clock; your riads, lodge and camp look after you during your stay, and our team is reachable by WhatsApp for anything you need.

Wellness Experiences and Where You Will Stay

Wellness on this retreat comes from a hammam ritual, optional spa treatments and yoga, gentle walks and plenty of quiet time, in riads, a mountain lodge, coastal accommodation and an Agafay camp chosen for comfort.

Wellness experiences

  • Traditional hammam: steam, black soap and a scrub, with privacy arrangements and treatment details confirmed in advance.
  • Spa treatments: optional massages and treatments at suitable properties or providers.
  • Yoga: optional sessions led by qualified practitioners when available, with a suitable space confirmed.
  • Gentle walks: in the Atlas with a local guide, and along Essaouira's beach and ramparts on your own.
  • Quiet time: whole free days, long breakfasts and unhurried evenings.

Proposed accommodation

  • Marrakech: boutique riads with courtyards and roof terraces.
  • Atlas Mountains: a comfortable mountain lodge in an area such as Ouirgane or Imlil.
  • Essaouira: a riad or coastal hotel, in the medina or near the beach.
  • Agafay: a comfortable desert camp near Marrakech.

These are not wellness resorts, and we do not describe them as such. Bathrooms, heating, air conditioning, pools, spa facilities and yoga spaces are confirmed for each property individually. Medina riads may involve a walk from the vehicle and stairs, and step-free or door-to-door vehicle access cannot be assumed.

Rooms and meals

Choose twin rooms, separate rooms or a mix; supplements for separate rooms appear in your quotation. Share dietary preferences in advance and we confirm them with each property. Female practitioners or guides can be requested, subject to confirmed availability.

What Is Included in the Wellness Retreat?

The proposed package includes thirteen nights' accommodation, private transfers with an English-speaking driver, licensed city guiding where included, a local mountain guide for the walk, the specified hammam package and, where included, dinner and breakfast at the Agafay camp; your final quotation confirms every item.

Proposed inclusions

  • Thirteen nights in the agreed accommodation
  • Breakfasts and other meals expressly specified
  • Private airport transfers and agreed intercity transport
  • English-speaking driver for scheduled transfers
  • Licensed city guiding where included
  • Local mountain guide for the agreed walk
  • The specified hammam package
  • Agafay dinner and breakfast, if included in the camp booking

Not included

  • Flights and travel insurance
  • Meals and beverages not listed
  • Optional spa treatments and yoga, unless expressly included
  • Unspecified entrance fees and additional activities
  • Tips, shopping and personal expenses

Who does what, and is there a vehicle on free days?

Your English-speaking driver handles scheduled transfers only and is not a guide or wellness instructor. Licensed city guides lead the city introductions, a local mountain guide leads the walk, and any spa or yoga practitioner is booked separately. On free days, the vehicle is not available unless your quotation includes it.

Morocco Wellness Retreat FAQs

The retreat is fully private, every wellness activity beyond the hammam is optional, and anything that depends on availability is confirmed in your quotation.

Is this holiday fully private?

Yes. Only your group travels in the vehicle and takes part in the guided and wellness experiences, on dates you choose.

Is yoga included?

No, yoga is optional. Sessions can be arranged only where a qualified practitioner and a suitable space are confirmed, at extra cost unless your quotation includes them.

What is the hammam like, and is it private?

It is a traditional ritual of steam, black soap and a scrub, usually followed by rest. Treatment details and privacy arrangements, such as a private hammam room or separate sessions, are confirmed with you in advance.

How hard is the mountain walk?

It is an optional gentle walk adapted to your fitness and the trail conditions. Paths can be uneven; a shorter route or a day at the lodge is always available.

How much free time is there?

A great deal. Days 6, 9 and 13 are almost entirely free, most afternoons are open, and every activity can be changed or skipped.

Can you cater for dietary requests?

Usually, if we know in advance. Share vegetarian, vegan, allergy or other needs and we confirm them with each property and the camp.

Do we have to share rooms?

No. Choose twin rooms, separate rooms or a mix; room supplements for separate rooms appear in your quotation.

How long are the transfers?

Most are short, but two are longer: Atlas to Essaouira, roughly 3.5 to 5 hours, and Essaouira to Agafay, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours, plus breaks (estimates). Every other transfer is about an hour or less.

How is Agafay different from the Sahara?

Agafay is a rocky, arid landscape of bare hills about an hour from Marrakech, not a sand-dune desert. It offers a calm desert-style night without the long drive to the Sahara dunes.

When is the best time for this retreat?

Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable for all three settings. Summer is hot inland, Essaouira is often windy, and winter nights are cold in the Atlas and at Agafay, so we confirm heating and outdoor dining for your dates.

More Time to Rest. More Space to Experience Morocco.

Share your dates, group size, preferred room arrangements, the wellness activities you would enjoy, how much walking feels comfortable and an approximate budget. Hakim and Aziz will reply with your private retreat and quote. Nothing is booked until you approve it.
