2-Day Private Marrakech to Zagora Desert Tour
This 2-day private desert tour runs two days and one night from Marrakech and back: across the High Atlas to Ouarzazate and down the Drâa Valley to one night in the Zagora area, returning via Agdz and Aït Ben Haddou. Both days involve long driving stages.
What Does This 2-Day Marrakech to Zagora Tour Cover?
This private tour is a short desert escape from Marrakech, combining the High Atlas, the Drâa Valley's palm groves, a night near Zagora and a visit to Aït Ben Haddou, for your own group only.
It's a compact itinerary rather than a leisurely one: most of both days is spent on the road, with sightseeing breaks. It suits travellers with limited time who want a taste of the south.
Who Is This Short Desert Tour from Marrakech For?
This tour suits couples, families and friends staying in Marrakech who have only two days and want an overnight in the south.
Good fit
Travellers short on time who are comfortable with long drives and are more interested in the landscapes and heritage on the way than in high dunes.
Consider another route if
You want the high Erg Chebbi dunes; then choose a Merzouga tour of three days or more. Our Marrakech desert tours page compares the options.

What Is the Day-by-Day Itinerary?
The itinerary crosses the High Atlas and follows the Drâa Valley to Zagora on day 1, and returns via Agdz and Aït Ben Haddou to Marrakech on day 2.
Marrakech to Zagora via the High Atlas, Ouarzazate and the Drâa Valley
Day 1 is a long drive from Marrakech across the High Atlas to Ouarzazate, then south through the Drâa Valley to the Zagora area for the night.
You stop for photos and short breaks along the way rather than long visits. The road through the Drâa Valley follows its palm groves and kasbahs, and near Agdz the tourist office suggests travellers
"walk in the mineral desert of Agdz or the Dades Gorges"— Moroccan National Tourist Office (Visit Morocco), Ouarzazate-Zagora-Tinghir: nature
Evening arrangements near Zagora, such as a camel ride or dinner at camp, are confirmed in your proposal.
Zagora to Marrakech via Agdz and Aït Ben Haddou
Day 2 is the return north via Agdz to Aït Ben Haddou, then back across the High Atlas to Marrakech.
UNESCO describes Aït Ben Haddou as
"a striking example of the architecture of southern Morocco."— UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou
It's quoted here because Aït Ben Haddou is the main heritage visit of the trip. The visit is a stop on the route; entrance fees and a local guide are separate. You arrive in Marrakech in the evening, at a time that depends on your departure, stops and road conditions.
Where Do You Spend the Night?
You spend the night in the Zagora area; the exact camp or hotel, its setting and its standard are confirmed in your proposal.
Tell us whether you'd prefer a desert camp or a hotel, and we'll build the quote around it. We don't describe camp facilities here until they're confirmed for your dates.
Which Services Are Included in the Price?
The tour includes a private vehicle and driver, pickup and drop-off in Marrakech, and one night's accommodation in the Zagora area; entrance fees, drinks and optional activities are not included, and meals and a camel ride are confirmed in your proposal.
Included
- Private vehicle for your group

Accommodation options

How Much Driving Should You Expect?
Expect long drives on both days, with sightseeing breaks; your arrival back in Marrakech depends on your departure time, stops and road conditions.
When do you return to Marrakech?
You return to Marrakech in the evening of day 2, at a time that depends on stops and road conditions, so avoid booking an evening flight that day.
Does Zagora offer the same dunes as Merzouga?
No, Zagora doesn't offer dunes on the scale of Merzouga's Erg Chebbi; the tourist office highlights the Tinfou dune near Zagora,
"also called ‘dune of the golden sand’"— Moroccan National Tourist Office (Visit Morocco), Ouarzazate-Zagora-Tinghir
but for towering dunes choose a Merzouga tour.
Where are you picked up?
You are picked up at your hotel or riad in Marrakech on day 1 and dropped off there on day 2.
Is a camel ride included?
A camel ride is confirmed in your proposal rather than guaranteed here; tell us if you'd like one near Zagora.
